Land plot allocated for construction of social houses

The State Housing Agency has defined a construction site for first district of social houses in Baku.

The Agency reported that a land plot with the total area of 11.6 hectares in Yasamal district of Baku was allocated for the construction of social houses. The territory has already been assigned to the Agency in accordance with the decision of the Cabinet of Ministers.

The territory, which is located in ecologically clean area, includes green zone with the total area of 5 hectares. Transport system of the area will be integrated in the single transport system of the capital city. Alongside with high-rise buildings, the territory will also include all necessary social infrastructures, such as schools and kindergartens.

Earlier, Agency Head Samir Nuriyev told reporters that the agency’s experts have studied several areas on different criteria and considered some of them favorable for the construction of social houses.

The Agency takes into account prospects of development of the city, favorable location of land plots as well as availability of transport and engineering-communication networks.

The project of social houses is expected to provide young and low-income families with renovated apartments with all conveniences. The project is also expected to be of great importance for the strengthening of non-oil sector of the economy.

Social housing is low cost houses built in a short time. The area of the apartment is small, but there are appropriate living conditions.

The houses can also be given for rent to low-income citizens for a long time. After relocating to the apartments the tenants pay rent, after full repayment of the cost of the apartment they will be eligible to privatize and become the owners of the apartment.

Construction of social housing is expected to be launched in all cities and the regional centers of the country.
