Azerbaijan has experience to host European Games successfully
The First European Games will make a positive impact on
Azerbaijan and make it become more well-known to the international
community, Indonesian ambassador to Azerbaijan Raden Prayono
Atiyanto told Trend on May 15.
Azerbaijan has a lot of experience in hosting major international
events, including the major event of the Asian Development Bank
Annual Meeting and Tour d'Azerbaidjan cycling event, said the
ambassador.
“Therefore, I am optimistic that the European Games will be
successful,” Atiyanto added. “In this regard, I can see that
preparations are underway as planned. Everything will be ready on
time.”
Talking about the importance of these Games for Europe, he said
that for sure, the European Games in Azerbaijan is the first of its
kind for Europe.
“So I hope it will be an interesting event and produce new records,
including world records,” he said.
The ambassador added that it is always important for the athletes
to participate in international competitions, including the
European Games in order to gain more experience and more
records.
Baku 2015 is the first ever European Games, an exciting and
innovative multi-sport event for the continent which will take
place on June 12-28, 2015.
There will be a total of 20 sports at Baku 2015: 16 Olympic sports
and four non-Olympic sports. More than 6,000 athletes from across
Europe will be representing their nations over 17 days of
competition.
Baku was awarded the games by the European Olympic Committees (EOC)
in December 2012.
