U.S. backs Georgia's Euro-Atlantic integration

By Jamila Babayeva

The U.S. supports Georgia's Euro-Atlantic integration.

Georgian Foreign Minister Maia Panjikidze made the remark while commenting on the U.S.'s decision on including Georgia among the allies along with Moldova and Ukraine before its entry into the North alliance.

"The U.S. also supports the appropriate assessment of Georgia's progress at all international forums. This is a known fact," she said. "This process is reflected by the EU in the Association Agreement, but in the process of the integration into Euro-Atlantic structures Georgia's progress should be marked in the decisions of the NATO summit."

Georgia and the EU signed the Association Agreement on June 27. The agreement will enter into force after its ratification by the Georgian Parliament, as well as by the European Parliament and the parliaments of the EU member states.

In parallel, Georgia is actively preparing for the NATO Wales summit scheduled for September 4-5, 2014 and intends to get a NATO Membership Action Plan.
