Georgia, EU mull free trade agreement

Georgia's Agriculture Minister Shalva Pipia discussed the free trade agreement with the European Union with a representative of the Directorate General for Health and Consumers of the European Commission Ramunas Freigofas.

During the meeting, the parties also focused on the issues related to signing the association agreement with the EU, which scheduled for June 27, the ministry reported.

"Little time remains until signing the association agreement. I welcome the progress that you have achieved in this respect," Freigofas said.

He stressed that the Georgian entrepreneurs will face some challenges regarding the production of products meeting European standards. "We are ready to render them all possible assistance in this issue," he noted.

The sides also had detailed discussions on the issues that are vital for bringing the Georgian products to the European market and emphasized the importance of training the Georgian specialists working in this sphere.
