Trestle with a length of 630 meters was repaired on the “Oil Rocks”, in order to improve working conditions of oil workers.

SOCAR reported that currently there are nine wells on the territory next to the trestle.

Head of SOCAR’s Oil and Gas Construction Trust Mirkazim Abbasov said that despite the fact that “Oil Rocks” is the first offshore oil platform in the world, today it continues to increase production.

This year, SOCAR's Oil and Gas Construction Trust commissioned a trestle with a total length of 920 meters. All repaired trestles are located on the “Oil Rocks”.

Over the past three years, a trestle with a total length of 6,445 meters was repaired and commissioned.

SOCAR’s Oil and Gas Construction Trust was founded from the Azerdenizneftinshaat Trust (founded in 1949) and the Khezerdenizneftgaztikinti Trust (founded in 1979), for the maintenance and construction of deepwater and shallow water offshore facilities and onshore facilities for SOCAR’s divisions and organizations.

For the first time in the world in 1949, the Trust did challenging construction work, built a 24-acre man made island, and started building piers and platforms at the “Oil Rocks”.

The Oil Rocks was discovered in 1949. An industrial settlement 100 miles off the coast of Baku, the Oil Rocks is a complete town on the sea. The first oil platform in Azerbaijan, the Oil Rocks was also the first operating offshore oil platform in the world.

By the end of 2016 almost 1 million tons of oil was extracted from the field.

SOCAR had produced 7.52 million tons of oil from Azerbaijan’s offshore and onshore fields in 2016, as compared to 8.16 million tons in 2015.

SOCAR is 100 percent owned by the government of Azerbaijan. SOCAR participates in joint ventures (including ventures in Georgia and Turkey), consortia, and operating companies established with SOCAR’s participation.

Currently, SOCAR is the only producer of petroleum products in the country, and operates more than 370 petrol stations in Switzerland, Georgia, Romania and Ukraine.

The company includes such production associations as Azneft (the enterprises producing oil and gas onshore and offshore), Azerikimya (the chemical enterprises) and Azerigas (distributor of gas produced in the country), as well as oil and gas processing plants, service companies, and the facilities involved in geophysical and drilling operations.
