Financial Monitoring Service of Azerbaijan’s Financial Market Supervisory Authority has removed Abd Al-Hadi Al-Wahab, a citizen of Saudi Arabia, from the list of people subject to international sanctions for their support of terrorism.

The report on the website of the Financial Monitoring Service says that Al-Wahab is under the U.S. supervision.

As many as 28 changes were made to the list in 2017. The list is updated in accordance with the UN Security Council’s decisions and the information received from regional organizations.

Based on an order of the Cabinet of Ministers of Azerbaijan, the international list is approved and updated by the Financial Monitoring Service based on the information received from the country’s Foreign Ministry.

The Financial Monitoring Service of Azerbaijan was established on February 23, 2009. The Service also provides the approved list to monitoring entities and supervisory authorities, which, if they identify property or money held by legal entities and individuals specified in the list, must report about this to the Financial Monitoring Service without performing any transactions with the property or money.

The monitoring of the Service covers the activities of credit, insurance and reinsurance organizations, professional participants of the securities market, pawnshops, investment funds, transactions with precious metals and stones and the purchase of wares made from them. This monitoring also covers the activities of non-governmental and religious organizations, lottery organizers, persons providing services for sale and purchase of real estate, as well as activities of lawyers, auditors, real estate transactions, client funds, securities and property, clients’ bank and security accounts.
