The second International Folk Festival will be held in Masalli, a southern region in Azerbaijan, on June12-16.

According to the Masalli executive power, preparations for the festival, which is dedicated to the 90th birthday anniversary of Azerbaijani National Leader Heydar Aliyev, have been completed and the city is now awaiting the participants of the event.

Groups from Turkey, Iran, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Belarus, Georgia, Latvia and Russia, as well as the "Karabakh nightingale" band from Agdam and four bands from Masalli will take part in the festival to present their folk dances and music.

About 300 visitors are expected at the festival, which will feature the rich heritage of Masalli, as well as the culture of the other participating countries.

Trips to the tourist attractions and the historical sites of Masalli will be arranged during the festival. Also, concerts and exhibitions of various artists' works will be organized.

Masalli was announced Folk Capital City of Azerbaijan in 2012 and it hosted the first International Folk Festival the same year. The idea of the organizers of the previous festival was to make it the culmination of the folklore events of the year. Folk bands from Turkey, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia and Azerbaijan participated at the festival.
