German public to be informed about Azerbaijani realities

Head of the Azerbaijan’s history department at the Humboldt University of Berlin, professor Eva Maria Auch and Director General of AzerTAc Aslan Aslanov met in Baku on November 20.

Discussions at the meeting revolved around establishment of cooperation between AzerTAc and history of Azerbaijan department at the Humboldt University of Berlin, prospects for joint activities to raise awareness of the German public about Azerbaijani realities.

The two sides stressed at the meeting that efforts to educate the German public on the Azerbaijani realities must be stepped up further.

Auch was participant of the international conference entitled “Achievements and prospects for cooperation of NGO,” held in Baku with assistance of the NGO State Support Council under Azerbaijan’s President.

She noted she was many times in Baku in 1990s when Azerbaijan was in an information blockade and her cooperation with AzerTAc began then.

The professor suggested holding an event marking the 95th anniversary of AzerTAc at the University of Humboldt. She expressed assurance that it will arouse great interest of German students studying the history of Azerbaijan.

Aslanov thanked Auch for her efforts in bringing the Azerbaijani realities to the notice of the German public. He underlined the importance of development of cooperation between AzerTAc and the University of Humboldt.

He pointed out that AzerTAc actively cooperates with the German DPA agency within the European Alliance of News Agencies.

The Director General noted that creation of the Azerbaijan’s history department at the University of Humboldt is an important event.

He noted that AzerTAc`s archives are always open to the students of the department.

The sides also discussed the conduct of seminars, trainings, master classes to improve German language proficiency of the AzerTAc`s German service desk employees.
