Italy names men's volleyball squad for Baku 2015
Italian coach Mauro Berruto has named his provisional men's
Volleyball squad for Baku 2015.
Berruto announced a list of 22 players for Italy’s men's Volleyball
team at the Baku 2015 European Games. The coach also named a 25-man
provisional team for the World League competition, which will
overlap with Baku 2015.
Six players - Elia Bossi, Iacopo Botto, Jacopo Massari, Gabriele
Nelli, Giacomo Raffaelli and Luigi Randazzo - were listed on both
squads.
Two of Italy's top players - Simone Parodi and Osmany Juantorena -
were not included as they are still playing with their clubs. It is
unclear at which competition Parodi and Juantoena will play this
summer.
"The decisions were taken keeping in mind the availability and the
desire of each athlete to play for the national team,". Berruto
said at the announcements.
He added that both teams would emphasize the same ideals during
preparation: "At the center of our work there will be not only
philosophy and theory but a precise technical discourse, a clear
way of playing."
Berruto said that with the overlap of the European Games and the
World League he wanted to limit the number of players on both
lists.
Baku 2015, exciting and innovative new multi-sport event this year will include 20 sports, 16 of which are Olympic. During the 17 days of competition in June 12-28. 6,000 athletes will prove themselves in Baku.
