Iranian parliament to mull protection of country's nuclear rights within NPT
Iranian parliament is gathering signatures for an "emergency plan" that would protect country's rights within the NPT (Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons), Mehr news agency reported.
The MPs want the plan to be submitted for parliament's consideration prior to the next Iran-P5+1 talks that are scheduled to be held tomorrow.
The two sides failed to reach a deal during the previous round held last week.
The plan includes enriching uranium to 20 percent, continuous work of the Arak heavy water reactor, and protection of nuclear rights of Iranian people.
Yesterday during the discussions between the country's nuclear negotiating team and the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee on the Iran-P5+1 nuclear talks, a statement was made that Tehran will not close any sites including Fordo facility and Arak heavy water production plant, and also will not halt uranium enrichment.
The U.S. and its Western allies suspect Iran of developing a nuclear weapon - something that Iran denies.
The Islamic Republic has on numerous occasions stated that it does not seek to develop nuclear weapons, using nuclear energy for medical researches instead.
