Spy network revealed in Iran's province - official
A spy network has been revealed in Iran's Fars province, Iranian
Intelligence official of Fars province said, IRNA news agency
reported.
The official, who remained anonymous, said that the members of the
spy network were arrested by the Iranian Intelligence Ministry.
Without revealing the number of arrested people, the official said
that the members of the group planned terrorist attacks during the
presidential elections in Iran, at polling stations, during public
rallies and Friday prayers.
"The group's plans were not carried out as they were arrested," the
official said, noting that the members of the group were connected
with the U.S., Israel and regional Intelligence agencies.
On June 3, Iran also reported on detention of another group of
people, who allegedly wanted to cause turmoil during the upcoming
presidential elections in the country.
Iran's Intelligence ministry said 12 members of a spy team have
been arrested. These people were involved in spying and terrorist
activities earlier, according to Fars news agency.
Some of the people in the group were also connected with the the
Mujahedin Khalq Organization (MKO).
