IAEA chief optimistic on solution of Iran nuclear crisis
The head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Yukiya
Amano, has expressed optimism the standoff with Iran over its
nuclear program can be resolved diplomatically, Radio Liberty
reported.
"I'm very much convinced that the IAEA has an essential role to
play in solving the Iran nuclear issues through diplomatic means,"
Amano said.
"It is to the interest of Iran and for the international community.
That is why I believe there is some good reason that Iran will get
cooperative with us."
Amano also said Iran appears to be cleaning up a suspected nuclear site ahead of talks next month with world powers.
The IAEA has announced it will hold talks with Iran in Tehran on December 13 after a four-month hiatus.
