ISESCO head says rapprochement of cultures helps to save civilisation

The rapprochement of cultures is the main factor that will save civilisation, ISESCO Secretary General Abdulaziz Othman Altwaijri said at the forum entitled 'Living together peacefully in a diverse world' held in Baku on May 30.
"It is very important for me to attend such an event," Altwaijri said expressing his gratitude to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for the invitation to take part in the forum. He stressed that Azerbaijantoday hosts such events thanks to his wise policy.
Altwaijri wished the Azerbaijani people peace and stability under such a wise leadership.
"At present, the main problems in the world arise due to the lack of dialogue, mutual trust and other factors," he said. "Firstly, dialogue must be held between the intellectual elite, because its representatives form future generations."
Altwaijri said that the rapprochement of cultures creates the conditions for an intellectual dialogue to avoid past mistakes. This method is the wisest choice.
"This is a way of preventing violence," he said.
The second World Forum on Intercultural Dialogue held under the motto 'Living together peacefully in a diverse world' began in Baku on May 30.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev delivered a speech at the opening ceremony.
