Turkic speaking states’ heads sign key documents

The final documents of the second summit of heads of the member states of the Cooperation Council of Turkic Speaking States (CCTS) signed in the Kyrgyz capital Bishkek on Thursday, the press service of the Kyrgyz President said.

The agreement on the financial rules of the CCTS, the agreement on the formation of a Turkic Academy of Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking countries and an agreement on establishing a fund to support Turkic culture and heritage of the CCTS were among the documents signed at the meeting. The heads of the member states of the council signed also final Bishkek Declaration of Cooperation.

In a press statement, Kyrgyz president Almazbek Atambayev expressed special gratitude to Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayev, Turkish President Abdullah Gul and Prime Minister Artur Rasizade.

The Kyrgyz president said that the participants focused on the economic aspect of cooperation at the CCTS first summit. The second summit of the CCTS in Bishkek was largely devoted to solving the problems of the transport sector of the participating countries.

"The decision on establishing the Turkic Academy signed today, testifies to the increasing rapprochement of the Turkic countries," the Kyrgyz president said. "This is one more step towards bringing our fraternal peoples together."

CCTS Secretary General Khalil Akinci said at a press conference on Wednesday that the council approved the organisation's official symbol - the flag. He said the main color of the flag is blue.

"This is the color of the flag of Kazakhstan. In the middle there is a crescent - it is from the Turkish flag. Above the crescent is a star from the flag of Azerbaijan. Outside the crescent are sun rays, which are depicted on the flag of Kyrgyzstan," Akinci said.

The next meeting of the CCTS will be held in Azerbaijan in 2013.

Before the summit there were meetings of ministers of culture and education of Turkic states and ministers of the economy as well as foreign ministers.
