Baku hosts evening of baroque arias

Well-known Turkish opera singer Oya Ergun held a concert at the Kapellhaus German-Azerbaijan Cultural Association in Baku.
The concert titled "The Evening of Baroque Arias" was co-organized by the Turkish Embassy in Azerbaijan.
Ergun said the concert was dedicated to the Azerbaijani soldiers who were killed on the frontline.
The soprano singer was accompanied by renowned organist, U.S.-based Jamila Javadova-Spitzberg. They performed works of the renowned European composers.
Ergun has a special education in Baroque music. She has performed in many European cities so far. Laureate of international competitions, composer, professor Ergun has lived and worked in Baku for the past two years.
In Baku she released an album called "Ruhum" and shot a video for the song of the outstanding Azerbaijani artist Rashid Behbudov "Sevgilim".
Jamila Javadova-Spitzberg is the first performer on the organ in Azerbaijan, who has received a Doctor of Musical Sciences degree. She has held concerts in Holland, Germany, UK, the U.S. and many other countries.
Jamila now lives in Dallas, where she teaches at the State University. Along with teaching, she performs as a solo artist and with various ensembles. Her repertoire includes works by Azerbaijani and foreign composers.
