An exhibition of Azerbaijani painters opened in the Azerbaijani-German cultural center, Kapellhaus, in Baku on Tuesday.

The exhibition, titled "Germany through the eyes of one artist", was organized by the Embassy of Germany in Azerbaijan with the support of the cultural center, the Maiden Tower Art Gallery, the Berlin-Baku Picture Gallery, Kapital Bank and Standard Insurance company.

Opening the event, Germany's deputy ambassador to Azerbaijan Wolfgang Moessinger said that the Azerbaijani painters are expressing their views about Germany to the society through this exhibition, which has been held since 2007. Since then more than 300 painters have participated at these exhibitions. Furthermore, an exhibition of winning painters was organized last year.

This year, 38 art works are displayed at the exhibition, Moessinger said.

Then the presented works were assessed by a panel of judges consisting of seven members including embassy officials.

According to a unanimous decision of the judges, young painter Khayala Yusifova was named the winner, while Taleh Mirkazimov took the second place, and Tural Eminli ranked third.

The winners were awarded gifts and will also have an opportunity to visit Germany.

Deputy principal of the Azerbaijan State Academy of Arts, Professor Valida Mammadova, and Academy Professor Sahlab Mammadov congratulated the young painters who succeeded at the exhibition.

The exhibition will run until June 10.
