Azerbaijan-Greece ICT co-op discussed in Baku

Azerbaijan and Greece have discussed potential cooperation in communication and information technology in Baku.
Azerbaijan's ICT Minister Ali Abbasov met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Greece to Azerbaijan Dimitrios Tsoungas.
Speaking about successful development of bilateral relations in all areas between Azerbaijan and Greece, Abbasov said there is great potential for establishing cooperation and expanding bilateral relations, particularly in ICT sector.
Abbasov noted the importance of the visit of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev to Greece in February 2009 in terms of expansion of mutual relations and further acceleration of the development of relations between the two sides.
Along with other documents, agreement on cooperation in the field of ICT between Azerbaijan and Greece was also signed during the visit, he said.
Provisions of this agreement have been a key in strengthening the partnership over the last years. Abbasov believes the warm relations will be continued in the future.
Praising the improvements taking place in the economic life of Azerbaijan and achievements in this field, Tsoungas said that Greece has already left behind economic crisis and it is currently being developed at a steady pace.
Despite the crisis, the country has a strong infrastructure in the field of information and communication technologies. In this respect, both countries could benefit from exchange of experience between the two sides, he noted.
Abbasov said there are ample opportunities for Azerbaijani companies in Greek market and Greek companies in Azerbaijani market, and expressed confidence, that Ambassador Tsoungas will make every effort to strengthen cooperation in this area during his diplomatic activity.
