Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili received Estonian Prime Minister Taavi Roivas to discuss the bilateral relations between the two countries, as well as the implementation of Georgia’s Association Agreement signed with the European Union.

The two top diplomats also talked over the occupation of Georgia’s Abkhazia and South Ossetia regions, while mulled the ongoing situation in Ukraine.

Moreover, Margvelashvili attached a particular attention to Georgia's future prospects at the upcoming Eastern Partnership Summit in Riga in May.

He thanked Estonia for its support at NATO Summit in Wales last September, where Georgia received a special package of cooperation from the Alliance.

Before sitting with the president Roivas met with Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and attended the Georgian-Estonian Business Forum.

His two-day official visit to Georgia ended in January 13.

Georgia and Estonia enjoy friendly ties, as Estonia firmly supports the South Caucasus country's European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations and expresses its readiness to share its successful experience of European and Euro-Atlantic integration with Georgia. Estonia firmly supports Georgia's territorial integrity and sovereignty within its internationally recognized borders. Georgia and Estonia also enjoy intensive bilateral inter-parliamentary, cultural, economic, defense and border management cooperation.

Georgia is a priority country for Estonia's Development Cooperation policy. That envisages a support to the implementation of joint projects aimed at establishing a good governance, developing a modern educational system and sustainable democracy in Georgia.
