Azerbaijan's First Lady and President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, Mehriban Aliyeva, has paid a visit to "Konul" orphanage-kindergarten in Badamdar settlement of the Sabail district of Baku after its major overhaul.

The repair works, initiated by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, started in April.

The 3-block kindergarten, constructed in 1974 occupies a total area of 4,000 square meters.

A new two-storied 90-seat block covering 600 square meters was built in the yard of the 110-seat kindergarten.

The facility's roof, music and game halls, kitchen, medical center and auxiliary rooms of the block were completely renovated.

The Heydar Aliyev Foundation provided the kindergarten with appropriate furniture, several refrigerators, TV sets, toys and other required equipment.

Pitches have been laid out and sports equipment installed in the yard of the orphanage-kindergarten. A special ground was also built here in order to teach children the traffic rules.

The first lady has also attended the opening ceremony of the republican special boarding school No.6 for children with restricted health condition in Turkan settlement of the Khazar district, Baku after reconstruction.

The reconstruction of the boarding school was initiated by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation.

Mehriban Aliyeva was told that 175 children with speech defect are being educated and living in the school. Meanwhile, new blocks have been constructed at the boarding school and state-of-the-art equipment installed.

Along with studying, children are treated here by speech therapists. The three-storey building of the school has modern classrooms, computer rooms, a library, a gym, drawing rooms, a carpet weaving room, chess rooms, a 200-seat canteen, a medical center and a 120-seat auditorium.

The school also has outdoor football, basketball and volleyball grounds. Landscaping and redevelopment works were carried out there. The boarding school consists of four blocks, three outdoor open pitches and an indoor sports hall.
