The United States Senate committee on foreign relations will hold hearings on the nomination of new U.S. ambassador to Azerbaijan.

The hearing on approval of Robert Cekuta's nomination to the post of the U.S. ambassador to Baku was scheduled for September 17, the committee reported.

The committee also will hold hearings to approve nominations for the post of new ambassadors to Armenia, Macedonia and Montenegro.

Cekuta, nominated by U.S. President Barack Obama, is Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State of the Energy Resources Bureau. He also has direct oversight over the Bureau's work on transparency and access to energy. Bob comes to the Bureau having most recently been Deputy Assistant Secretary for Energy, Sanctions, and Commodities in the State Department's Bureau for Energy and Business Affairs.

Cekuta, in case his candidacy approved, will replace Richard Morningstar, who completed his diplomatic mission late this summer.
