CoE’s Group of Rapporteurs on Democracy interested in cooperation with Azerbaijan

Ambassadors of the Committee of Ministers' Group of Rapporteurs on Democracy of the Council of Europe visited on Thursday Azerbaijan's Parliament to meet representatives of the country's delegation to PACE.

Head of the Azerbaijani delegation to PACE, chairman of Parliament's committee for international and interparliamentary relations, Samad Seyidov, stressed the significance of activities of the Group of Rapporteurs on Democracy. Samadov said "objective, transparent and unbiased position of all organizations, which work for development of Azerbaijan, is of great importance for us".

Ambassador Urszula Gacek, Permanent Representative of Poland to the Council of Europe said the Committee of Ministers' Group of Rapporteurs on Democracy was interested in development of relations and mutual beneficial cooperation with Azerbaijan.

She said the Group`s visit aims to become familiar with processes in Azerbaijan more closely.

The ambassadors are expected to hold several meetings in Baku. "We believe that our effective cooperation with Azerbaijan will further expand," Gacek said.

The sides also exchanged views on a wide range of issues, including prospects of development of Azerbaijan-CoE relations.
