Armenian troops keep high tension on frontline

Over the past 24 hours, Armenia’s armed forces have 139 times violated the ceasefire along the line of contact between Azerbaijani and Armenian troops, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry reported on September 28.
"The Azerbaijani army`s positions came under fire from Armenian villages, including Chinari and Mosesgekh in Berd district, Vazashen and Paravakar in Ijevan distrct, Dovekh in Noyemberyan district, unnamed hills in Krasnoselsk district," the ministry said.
"The army`s positions also came under fire from the Armenia-occupied districts of Azerbaijan, including Chilaburt, Yarimja and Goyarkh villages in Tartar, Namirli, Taghibayli, Shikhlar, Bash Garvand, Abdinli, Garagashli, Kangarli, Sarijali, Ajarli, Novruzlu, Yusifjanli and Marzili villages in Aghdam, Kuropatkino village in Khojavand, Ashagi Veysalli, Gobu Dilagharda, Garvand, Garakhanbayli, Ashagi Seyidahmadli, Gorgan, Horadiz and Kurdlar villages in Fuzuli, Mehdili and Nuzgar villages in Jabrayil, as well as unnamed hills in Goranboy, Goygol, Tartar, Aghdam, Fuzuli and Kojavand,” the ministry added.
The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts.
The 1994 ceasefire agreement was followed by peace negotiations. Armenia has not yet implemented four UN Security Council resolutions on withdrawal of its armed forces from the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding districts.
