Azerbaijani female cyclist Olga Ismayilova has booked licenses in two spots in the Rio 2016 Summer Olympic Games.

She will represent the country in sprint and keirin competitions in this significant sporting event.

Under UCI regulations, during the two years preceding the Summer Olympic Games, cyclists gain license points for participation in the competition, competing in the World and European Championships, as well as World Cup competitions.

During these years Olga participated in a number of races and clocked up dozens of victories, as a result of which she gained points for her long-awaited golden license. Today Olga becomes a legal license holder amongst the other 27 cyclists representing their countries in sprint and keirin races.

Azerbaijan’s Maksim Averin also earned a berth in the Rio 2016 Olympics.

Earlier, the Azerbaijani Sport and Youth Ministry reported that Azerbaijan secured 48 licenses for Rio 2016. Gaining two more licenses Olga brought the number of licenses up to 50.

Thus, Azerbaijan will be represented in 14 of the total 42 sports in the Summer Olympic Games to be held in Rio on August 5-21. The national para-athletes will compete in four sports out of the total 23 sports in the Paralympic Games scheduled for September 7-18.
