1st FIP Arena Polo Championship runs in Baku

The 1st FIP Arena Polo European Championship kicked off in Baku on September 4 at the Elite Horse and Polo Club.
Addressing the opening ceremony, the President of the Azerbaijan Equestrian Federation, Elchin Guliyev, spoke about the care and attention that the country's leadership has provided to sports in the country, citing the example of the 1st European Games as well as the international polo competitions held in Azerbaijan over the last two years.
A total of six teams from Azerbaijan, Germany, Ireland, Switzerland, Italy and Spain will compete for the title.
On the first day of the competition, the Azerbaijani team competed with Germany, where the game ended with the victory of 9:7.
The second day was also gracious to the Azerbaijan, with a 12:6 victory over Italy.
The national polo team also beat its rivals on September 7, crushing Ireland 7:4.
On the same day, Switzerland beat Italy 11:1, while Germany prevailed over Spain 8:5.
So far, Azerbaijan is leading the overall ranking with 6 points, followed by Spain and Germany each with 4 points.
The national polo team will meet Switzerland on September 10 and
Spain on September 11.
The final round is scheduled for September 12.
The competition is sponsored by the Azerbaijan Equestrian Federation, “Elite Horse and Polo Club,” and the World Polo.
