Azerbaijani judoist leads in world ranking
Azerbaijani judoists entered the top 50 of the world rankings, according to the list issued by the International Judo Federation (IJF) as per September 16, 2013.
World champion Elkhan Mammadov (200 kg) leads the list, while other judo fighters including Nijat Shikhalizade (66 kg), Elnur Mammadli (81 kg), Ilgar Mushkiyev (60 kg) and Tamerlan Kerimov (66 kg) stepped back at the list taking 10th, 50th, 14th and 34th positions in corresponding weight categories respectively.
Orkhan Safarov (60 kg), Rustam Orujov (73 kg), Tural Safguliyev (81 kg), Shahin Gahramanov (90 kg), Elmar Gasimov (100 kg) and female fighter Kifayat Gasimova (57 kg) could retain their previous positions at the list, currently holding the 22nd, 12th, 26th, 7th (both) and 16th places respectively.
Only Azerbaijani female judoka Ramila Yusubova (63 kg) took one step forward ranking the 54th position.
