The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has rejected allegations concerning special privileges allegedly granted to its president, Gianni Infantino, AzerNEWS reports. The organization described the claims as part of a coordinated effort to undermine FIFA and its leadership.

In a statement issued on August 9, FIFA said: "It is becoming increasingly clear that there is a coordinated and persistent attempt to undermine FIFA and its president," adding that "These allegations are nothing more than unproven or outright false claims."

The governing body also stressed that Infantino was elected by FIFA member associations through a democratic process and remains in office under that mandate.

FIFA stated: "The president was democratically elected by member associations and continues to carry out his duties under that mandate," while emphasizing: "What cannot be achieved through democratic procedures should not be pursued through allegations, insinuations, and misinformation."

Note that Gianni Infantino served as UEFA secretary general from 2009 to 2016 before being elected FIFA president. The next FIFA presidential election is scheduled for March 2027.

FIFA, founded in 1904 and headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland, is the global governing body for association football.

The organization has 211 member associations and is responsible for overseeing international football while organizing major competitions, including the FIFA World Cup.
