National judokas grab two medals in Poland

The 28th European Judo Championships kicked of in Warsaw, Poland, bringing together 369 judo fighters from 41 countries.
The Azerbaijani judo fighters have claimed a clutch of two bronze medals on the first day of the tournament.
The medals came from Orkhan Safarov and Nijat Shikhalizade in the 60kg and 66kg weight categories respectively, Azertac reported.
The national team is represented by 8 male and 2 female judokas.
Aisha Gurbanli (48 kg) will compete with Galcadar Shenturk (Turkey), while Nazaket Azizov (52 kg) will fight against Reka Papp.
Rustam Orujev, Hidayat Heydarov (73 kg) and Rufat Ismayilov (81 kg) will compete on April 21.
Mammadali Mehdiyev (90 kg), Elmar Qasimov, Elkhan Mamedov (100 kg) and Ushangi, Kakouri (+100 kg) will compete on April 22.
Judo is one of the most developed kinds of sport in Azerbaijan, where the National Judo Federation was established in 1972.
The adult judo team of Azerbaijan made considerable progress in 2016. The team led by the Autsrian coach Peter Seisenbacher won 51 awards in competitions of various levels. His clutch includes 14 gold, 10 silver and 27 bronze medals. The Federation's results showed that Azerbaijani judokas won 351 times out of 710 fights during the year.
