Work launched on establishment of Black Sea grain pool
Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov ordered the Economic
Development and Trade Ministry, Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry
of and Infrastructure Ministry to start work on the creation of the
Black Sea grain pool, RIA Novosti reported.
The idea to create joint grain pool of Russia, Ukraine and
Kazakhstan at the Black Sea appeared in 2009. The initiative has
not been implemented so far.
Azarov said that he had discussed the idea of Black Sea grain pool
creation with his Kazakh and Russian counterparts on Sep. 25 within
his visit to Astana.
"Russian expressed its readiness to take part in this project," he
said.
The prime minister ordered the ministries to hold consultations
with Moscow and Astana on the pool creation.
Azarov noted that common grain export potential of Ukraine, Russia
and Kazakhstan hit 70 million tons per year.
