Over $ 5 billion foreign investment has entered the Tajik economy over the past five years. As many as $ 2 billion came from foreign direct investment.

Such statistics was given by President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon at the International Business Forum opened in Dushanbe.

"The share of the private sector in the structure of GDP this year has reached 70 percent, which is 12 percent more than five years ago," the president said.

The raised funds were directed to the production of industrial products, the construction sector, the energy infrastructure and tourism.

The head of state stressed that by attracting foreign direct investment, the share of the industrial sector in 2017 was 17 percent, while exports of the industry’s products, in particular cement, drywall, paint materials, ore, canned fruit and vegetables, cotton fabrics and carpets, increased significantly.

“Despite the favorable conditions created, unfortunately, some taxpayers are still violating the law,” said Rahmon.

He noted that inspections results show, in 2017 and eight months of 2018 as a whole, tax evasion was revealed totaling 1 billion 240 million somoni, of which 900 million somoni were sent to the budget.

The president instructed to take effective measures to continue to eliminate such tax violations.
