Baku, Bishkek mull military cooperation

Azerbaijani and Kyrgyz high-ranking military officials have exchanged views on development of cooperation between the two countries in military field.

An official visit of the Azerbaijani delegation headed by the Defense Minister, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov to Kyrgyzstan started on June 1, Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said.

During the visit, representatives of the Azerbaijani delegation visited the memorial complex “Eternal Flame” in Victory Square in Bishkek. Afterwards, Abibilla Kudaiberdiev, Kyrgyzstan’s defense minister met with Hasanov.

During the meeting held with the participation of representatives of both sides, the importance of negotiations and meetings held between Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan was stressed, special attention was paid to the development of cooperation between the two countries in the defense field, as well as in the spheres of exchange of experience and staff training.

Representatives of the Azerbaijani delegation also visited the Combat Training Centre of the Armed Forces of Kyrgyzstan.

The visit of the Azerbaijani delegation to Kyrgyzstan will last until June 2.

Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan was established on January 19, 1993.

Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan are working together to strengthen their partnership in industry, trade, communications, and transportation fields. The two countries also intend to develop cooperation between their justice authorities.
