PACE co-rapporteurs visit Baku

The co-rapporteurs of the Monitoring Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on Azerbaijan, Pedro Agramunt and Tadeusz Iwinski, are on a visit to Azerbaijan.

The co-rapporteurs will meet with Azerbaijani officials, including Parliamentary Speaker Ogtay Asadov, Justice Minister Fikret Mammadov, representatives of the Azerbaijani delegation to PACE.

Agramunt and Iwinski will also hold meetings in the General Prosecutor's Office, Presidential Administration of Azerbaijan and the Central Election Commission.

They are expected to meet with representatives of civil society in the country and visit a number of prisoners.

The visit of co-rapporteurs of the Monitoring Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) completes on March 3.

The Polish MP Iwinski was elected as co-rapporteur of PACE Monitoring Committee on Azerbaijan on January 29 during the PACE winter session in Strasbourg. In this role, he succeeded Joseph Debono Grech (Malta). This is the first visit of Iwinski as co-rapporteur to Azerbaijan.
