Baku, Bishkek mull cooperation in defense industry

Azerbaijani and Kyrgyz officials have discussed the prospects for cooperation in the field of defense industry.
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev received Kyrgyz Defense Minister Abibilla Kudaiberdiev on February 10.
Kudaiberdiev extended greetings of Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambayev to President Aliyev.
The sides noted that the relations between the two countries were successfully developing in various areas, and said there were good opportunities for expanding the bilateral cooperation.
They also discussed prospects for cooperation in the fields of industry and defense industry, including military education.
President Aliyev expressed his gratitude for the greetings of President Atambayev, and asked Kudaiberdiev to convey his greetings to the Kyrgyz president.
Kyrgyz defense minister embarked on a three-day official visit to Azerbaijan on February 10. He will also meet Zakir Hasanov, Azerbaijan’s Defense Minister.
The Kyrgyz delegation led by Kudaiberdiev will visit the Armed Forces Military Academy, the Higher Military School after Heydar Aliyev and the Armed Forces Education and Training Center.
Diplomatic relations between Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan was established on January 19, 1993.
Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan are working together to strengthen their partnership in industry, trade, communications, and transportation fields. The two countries also intend to develop cooperation between their justice authorities.
