Ruling party to register its candidate for presidential elections soon
The ruling New Azerbaijan Party (NAP) will submit necessary documents to the Central Election Commission (CEC) to register its candidate Ilham Aliyev at the upcoming presidential elections, NAP Deputy Chairman and Executive Secretary Ali Ahmadov told Trend news agency.
Ahmadov said several documents are being prepared in this connection.
"I think that the ruling party will submit the documents to register its candidate soon," he said.
The ruling party made a decision to nominate the candidacy of Azerbaijani President, NAP Chairman Ilham Aliyev in the upcoming presidential elections at the fifth congress of the Party
The nomination for the presidential elections started in Azerbaijan on August 5.
The CEC decided to hold the presidential elections on October 9. The previous presidential elections were held on October 15, 2008. The presidential elections are held in Azerbaijan every five years.
