Ruling party sees no competitors to Ilham Aliyev at 2013 elections

Azerbaijan's ruling Yeni (New) Azerbaijan Party (YAP) sees no competitors to Ilham Aliyev at the upcoming presidential elections.

"There is no competitor to President Ilham Aliyev at the upcoming presidential elections in Azerbaijan," YAP Deputy Executive Secretary Siyavush Novruzov told Trend news agency on Friday, commenting on Musavat Party head Isa Gambar's nomination for participation in the presidential elections.

"All Azerbaijani people support Ilham Aliyev, support his policy and reforms, as well as the activity carried out by him. This support will be manifested at the upcoming elections, and no matter which candidates will be nominated, citizens eligible to vote, will unanimously vote for incumbent President Ilham Aliyev," he stressed.

Novruzov noted that the decision of the Musavat Party, once again proved, that Isa Gambar's candidacy is not accepted as a single opposition candidate.

"The Musavat Party's decision has once again demonstrated that no opposition party of Azerbaijan, no public structure accept Isa Gambar as a single candidate," he underlined.

Musavat party has decided to take part in the presidential elections to be held in Azerbaijan.

The party decided to nominate Isa Gambar as a presidential candidate.

The presidential elections are planned to be held in autumn of 2013.
