Mayor of Astana visits Baku

The Mayor of Astana, Asset Issekeshev held talks with the Mayor of Baku, Hajibala Abutalybov during his visit to Azerbaijan on September 5, the Kazakh embassy reported.
The sides discussed topical issues of mutual cooperation between the two capitals, as well as promising areas of cooperation.
Abutalybov noted that Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan are fraternal countries, and the relations between the two countries have always been at a high confidence level.
During the meeting, Issekeshev reminded about the upcoming International Specialized Exhibition Astana EXPO 2017, participation in which Azerbaijan confirmed among the first, and invited Abutalybov to visit the exhibition.
In the framework of the visit to Baku, Issekeshev also plans to meet with Natig Aliyev, Energy Minister of Azerbaijan and Commissioner of Azerbaijan’s national section at Astana EXPO 2017. Moreover, Issekeshev plans to visit the Center for Intellectual Traffic Management of Baku.
Brotherly relations between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan, huge resource of two countries, sea borders, diasporas, geostrategic position of the states on the historical “Silk Way” are main driving forces of the further development of two countries’ economic relations.
Energy, transport, construction, agriculture, communications, tourism are main priority directions of bilateral cooperation. Joint Intergovernmental Commission on economic cooperation between Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan is successfully operating.
Moreover, necessary measures are taken to better utilize the opportunity driven from the passage of shortest East-West transport corridor through the territories of the countries. Currently energy and other goods produced in Kazakhstan are carried to Europe by different means of transport through Azerbaijan. Additionally, the commissioning of Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway will serve further development of cooperation on this field and increase importance of the two countries as transit corridor.
