Tour d’Azerbaidjan reveals broadcasting plans

Azerbaijan will once again welcome cyclists from all over the world at the Tour d'Azerbaidjan cycling competition.
The UCI 2.1 five-day Tour d’Azerbaidjan stage race will start on May 4 in Baku and finish on May 8.
Highlights of every stage of the Tour d'Azerbaidjan-2016 will be
shown on Eurosport, with more extensive reviews of every stage
broadcast on Eurosport 2.
“We're really happy with this opportunity to showcase both the race
and our country to an international audience through the Eurosport
channels,” said Farhad Aliyev, General Secretary of the Azerbaijan
Cycling Federation.
Eurosport will show 15 minutes of highlights of every stage after
the live broadcast of the Giro d'Italia, and Eurosport 2 will show
a longer review of 60 minutes every evening. The day after the
final stage of the Tour d'Azebraidjan, Eurosport 2 will broadcast a
summary of the whole Tour during a broadcast of 60 minutes.
In 2015, Eurosport broadcasted daily highlights of the race and
showed three of the five stages live, to a large international
audience, reaching 32 million unique viewers.
“We hope that with this year's broadcasts again reach a big
international audience, and we're confident about this because of
the quality of the race and the broadcast that Eurosport provides,”
Aliyev noted.
At least 22 teams from around the world will join the race this
year. The Professional Continental rank will be represented by
BORA-Argon 18 Pro Cycling Team (Germany), DRAPAC Professional
Cycling (Australia), Team Roth (Switzerland), Gazprom RusVelo
(Russia), Team Novo Nordisk (USA) and Southeast Pro Cycling Team
(Italy).
Synergy Baku Cycling Project, racing on home soil, is one of the 15
Continental teams. Others are Team Sauerland, Bridgestone Anchor
Cycling Team, Team Tavira, Felbeymayr Simplon Wels, Astana City,
Dukla Panska Bystrica , Tusnad, Nasr Dubai, Team Illuminate
Massi-Kuwait Cycling Project , Unieuro Wilier , Terengganu Cycling
Team, Cycling Academy Team and Alpha Baltic - Maratoni.lv.
As well as the Pro Continental teams and Continental teams, the
Estonian national team will also line up at the 2016 Tour
d'Azerbaidjan.
Tour d’Azerbaidjan -2016 will be the fifth edition of the event, which started in 2012 as the Heydar Aliyev Anniversary Tour (U23) and in 2012 - the tour became an annual event, later transformed into Tour d'Azerbaidjan.
