KazMunaiGas to conduct new oil exploration works in 2015

Kazakhstan’s national company KazMunaiGas will continue its oil exploration operations in 2015 in accordance with the terms of agreements on subsoil use, the company told Trend Agency.

“It is expected to complete the drilling of the appraisal wells in the ‘Shelly Sea’ structure, to start the drilling of exploration well in the ‘Satpayev’ structure and to complete joint works on choosing the relevant conception on arrangement of the ‘Khazar’ field,” KazMunaiGas said.

Currently, the portfolio of KazMunaiGas includes a number of promising and already implemented exploration projects in the Kazakh sector of the Caspian Sea. Promising projects are those for which KazMunaiGas is working hard to obtain subsoil use rights. These projects are ‘Abai’, ‘Isatai’ and ‘Ustyurt’.

“KazMunaiGas has signed protocols of direct negotiations with the competent authority of Kazakhstan for each of these projects, and currently, it is coordinating the draft agreements on subsoil use," the company said.

In 2015, KazMunaiGas also plans to continue research on the ‘Kalamkas Sea’, ‘Aktoty’, ‘Kairan’ and ‘South-Western Kashagan’ fields.

Currently, agreements on subsoil use have been concluded on the projects such as ‘Jemchujina’, ‘Jambyl’, ‘Satpayev’ and ‘N’. Geological exploration works on these projects are underway.
