Azerbaijan’s Patent and Trademarks Center Public Legal Entity and the State Agency on Intellectual Property of the Republic of Moldova (AGEPI) has signed memorandum on cooperation.

The State Committee for Standardization, Metrology and Patent reported that the document was signed by Gunel Sevdimaliyeva, acting director general of the "Patent and Trademarks Center" Public Legal Entity and Lilia Bolocan, Director General of AGEPI.

The document envisages exchange of experience between the two countries, cooperation in delivering specialized intellectual property services to customers, exchange of information on legislation relating to industrial property and its future development and participation in intellectual property awareness campaigns.

The two will also consider possibilities for organizing events on joint conferences, symposia, seminars and industrial property, promoting and maintaining a geographical location protection system, increasing knowledge in this field and co-operation in promoting intellectual property rights between scientific-research institutions, enterprises and other intellectual property owners of the two countries.

Within the framework of the visit to Moldova the employees of the Centre also attended the conference organized in connection with the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the State Agency on Intellectual Property.

The event discussed current state of bilateral relations and future development trends of cooperation between the two countries.

The Patent and Trademarks Center was established upon the presidential order dated February 10, 2017.

The Centre was tasked to examine and register inventions, utility models, designs, trademarks and geographical indications, maintain the respective registers, and authorize patent attorneys, among other functions in these fields.

The Centre is not a state body, but instead an organization that carries out activities of nationwide and social significance as established by the state.
