Azerbaijan's sport achievements ensure holding European Games at highest level

Azerbaijan’s sport achievements ensure holding of the first
European Games at highest level, said Carlo Mornati, the silver
medalist of the Sydney Olympic Games 2000, twice world champion,
Deputy Secretary-General of the Italian National Olympic
Committee.
“I think that the decision to hold the first European Games in
this country is associated with having of good sport potential in
Azerbaijan. The unusual concept for this race and spectacular
infrastructure is commendable,” he said, AzerTag state news agency
reported.
The athlete noted that, the team to represent Italy in the European
Games is preparing with great determination.
“In general, the European Games will play an important role in the
sport life of Italy. Approximately, 350 Italian athletes will
represent the country in all of the sport fields in the program,”
Mornati said.
“I am sure that Azerbaijan that gained great successes in the sport history is capable to host such a prestigious competition at a high-level,” he stressed.
The biggest sporting event in Azerbaijan's history, the Baku 2015 European Games will attract more than 6,000 athletes to represent 50 countries in 20 sports during 17 days of competition starting from June 12.
Azerbaijan will be presented by about 320 athletes at the Games. The games will take place in 21 stadia and facilities in Baku and Mingachevir city.
