Azerbaijan-Hungary sign several documents

Azerbaijan and Hungary signed a number of bilateral documents during the official visit of Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev to Budapest, Hungary, on November 11.

At an expanded meeting, Hungarian Prime Minister, Viktor Orban hailed the importance of the visit of President Aliyev in expanding bilateral relations.

He said Azerbaijan is of great importance for the parliament and entire political elite of Hungary. “Each of us is following your country’s progress with great admiration, particularly in economy and non-oil sector.”

The prime minister emphasized the role of his friendly ties with President Aliyev in the development of the bilateral cooperation between two countries, and noted that there is a good capacity for expansion of relations.

Then President Aliyev said the relations between the two countries were successfully developing, adding these ties were based on mutual confidence.

Saying that there were strong political bonds between Azerbaijan and Hungary, President Aliyev noted that the economic relations have been developing successfully.

President Aliyev said there are ample opportunities for the expansion of economic cooperation, and praised the importance of the documents to be signed, saying they will create a good legal framework for the strengthening of the bilateral cooperation.

During the meeting, the parties stressed the importance of reviewing new prospects of relations and underlined the activities of the joint inter-governmental commission in this regard. The sides also emphasized on the significance of defining prospects for cooperation in energy, educational, humanitarian, pharmaceutical, investment making and other fields.

The Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, cooperation within the European Union, regional and other issues of mutual interest were also discussed during the meeting.

Following the expanded meeting, President Aliyev and Prime Minister Orban signed a “Joint Declaration” on strategic partnership.

Azerbaijani Ambassador to Hungary Vilayat Guliyev and Hungarian State Secretary for Economic Regulation Bela Glattfelder signed “The agreement on cooperation in the field of tourism between the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry for National Economy of Hungary.”

Head of the Baku City Executive Authority Hajibala Abutalibov and Mayor of Budapest Istvan Tarlos signed a protocol on friendship and cooperation between the Baku City Executive Authority and Budapest Mayor’s Office.

Moreover, Azerbaijani Economy and Industry Minister Shahin Mustafayev and Hungarian Minister of State for Food Chain Supervision Robert Zsigo signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of animal healthcare between the Agriculture Ministry of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Agriculture Ministry of Hungary.

Azerbaijan’s Minister of Economy and Industry Shahin Mustafayev and Hungarian Minister of National Development Miklos Sesztak signed an agreement on air communication between the government of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the government of Hungary.

Azerbaijani Minister of Communication and High Technologies Ali Abbasov and Sesztak signed an agreement on cooperation between the Ministry of Communication and High Technologies of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of National Development of Hungary in the establishment of Regional information Center in the Republic of Azerbaijan and in the field of innovative technologies.

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov and Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Peter Szijjarto signed an agreement on cooperation between the Ministry of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Human Capacities of Hungary in the field of sports and youth.

Mammadyarov and Szijjarto also signed a plan of action for 2015-2017 between the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Human Capacities of Hungary.

A Hungarian-Azerbaijani business forum was held in Budapest during the Azerbaijani delegation’s visit. President Aliyev and Prime Minister Orban attended the business forum.

The head of state returned to Azerbaijan on the same day.
