The relations between Belarus and Azerbaijan in the judicial field are developing, Belarusian Deputy Justice Minister Alla Bodak said.

Bodak made the remark during a meeting with her Azerbaijani counterpart Togrul Musayev in Baku on December 19.

Noting the similarity in the legal systems of the two countries, she informed her counterpart about judicial and legal reforms in Belarus.

The exchange of experience and opinions is of great significance for both sides, Bodak said.

Musayev, in turn, said Azerbaijan pays much attention to judicial cooperation with other countries, including Belarus.

He noted the cooperation agreements signed between the justice ministries of the two countries in 1999 and 2012 during the Azerbaijan President's visits to Belarus made a considerable contribution to the expansion of mutual relations.

Musayev also informed the guest on reforms carried out in Azerbaijan's judicial system, including the recent expansion of the ministry's authorities, the Academy of Justice, development of the penal system, infrastructure modernization, and introduction of electronic systems.

Later, Bodak was received by Azerbaijan's Justice Minister, Chairman of the Judicial and Legal Council Fikret Mammadov.

Praising friendship and efficient cooperation between the two countries, the minister said the countries have been steadily developing legal relations.

He also expressed confidence that there are big prospects for further strengthening and deepening of mutual activity.

Bodak also visited the Justice History Museum of Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan and Belarus established diplomatic relations in 1993. Belarus is interested in increasing the capacity of Belarusian assembly plants operating in Azerbaijan, as well as implementation of new projects in construction, education, health, science and culture sectors.
