Armenian militaries keep high tension on frontline

The Armenian armed forces have 24 times violated the ceasefire along the line of contact between Azerbaijani and Armenian troops over the last 24 hours, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry reported on November 29.

The Armenian armed forces, stationed in Armenia`s Chinari and Mosesgekh villages in Berd region subjected to fire the positions of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces located in Aghbulag and Alibayli villages in Tovuz region.

The ceasefire was also violated near Chilaburt and Goyarkh villages in Tartar region, Novruzlu village in Aghdam region, Kuropatkino village in Khojavand region, Gorgan, Garakhanbayli and Ashagi Seyidahmadli villages in Fuzuli region, as well as nameless hills in Khojavand, Jabrayil and Fuzuli regions.

The conflict between the two South Caucasus countries began in 1988 when Armenia made territorial claims against Azerbaijan. As a result of the ensuing war, in 1992 Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan, including the Nagorno-Karabakh region and seven surrounding districts. The 1994 ceasefire agreement was followed by peace negotiations.

Armenia has not yet implemented four UN Security Council resolutions on withdrawal of its armed forces from the Nagorno-Karabakh and the surrounding districts.
