Armenian militaries breach truce regime over 30 times
The Armenian armed units violated ceasefire with Azerbaijan a total of 31 times throughout the day, Azerbaijan`s Defense Ministry reported on September 5.
Armenian armed units, stationed in the Shavarshavan village and nameless hills of Armenia's Noyemberyan region, Chinari village in Berd region and in the nameless hills of the Krasnoselsk region, opened fire at the positions of Azerbaijani armed forces located in the Farahli village of Azerbaijan's Gazakh region, Agbulag village in Tovuz region.
Along the contact line, Azerbaijani positions also came under fire from Armenian positions situated near the Marzili village in Agdam region, Horadiz, Ashagi Veysalli, Ashagi Seyidahmadli and Garakhanbayli villages of the Fuzuli region, Mehdili village in Jabrayil region.
Armenia and Azerbaijan fought a lengthy war that ended with the signing of a fragile ceasefire in 1994. More than 20,000 Azerbaijanis were killed and over 1 million were displaced as a result of the large-scale hostilities. Since the war, Armenian armed forces have occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijan's territory, including Nagorno-Karabakh and seven surrounding regions.
The OSCE Minsk Group acted as the only mediator in resolution of the conflict, proceeding talks based on the renewed Madrid principles
