Observers ready for Kazakh parliament election

To date, 116 representatives of foreign media outlets from 28
countries and 308 international observers have been accredited for
Kazakhstan’s parliamentary election to be held March 20, the
country’s Central Election Commission said on March 4.
The CEC accredited 130 new observers from the CIS in addition to
those accredited earlier from this organization and three from
South Korea on March 4.
Earlier, it registered observers from the OSCE/ODIHR, the
Organization of Islamic Cooperation, as well as from Azerbaijan,
Armenia, Georgia, Latvia, Malaysia, Russia, the US and Estonia.
The accreditation of foreign observers will continue until March
14.
The following parties will participate in the parliamentary
election in Kazakhstan: Nur Otan, Ak Zhol Democratic Party of
Kazakhstan, People's Democratic Patriotic Party "Aul", the
Communist People's Party of Kazakhstan, the Nationwide Social
Democratic Party and the Birlik party.
