Tbilisi, NATO eye Alliance’s special package
NATO plays an important role in ensuring security in the region.
Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili made the remark during his meeting with NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen on September 4.
The meeting took place before the start of the NATO summit in Cardiff, the presidential administration reported.
The parties also discussed the package which will be offered to Georgia on the path of rapprochement with NATO. NATO Secretary General said that the implementation of this package will even more bring Georgia and the alliance together.
"Alliance adequately considers the success of Georgia's integration into NATO, and this progress will be noted at the summit, and that will be a new impetus for the integration," Rasmussen said.
Margvelashvili expressed hope that the summit will increase the safety and security of Georgia.
Rasmussen also congratulated Margvelashvili on his 45th birthday and wished him success before the meeting.
