Turkey's private sector will be able to manage railroads
Turkey's private sector has been authorized to construct and manage railroads, CNN Turk TV channel quoted Turkish Minister of Transport, Shipping and Communication Binali Yildirim as saying on Thursday.
The relevant permission was issued by the Turkish Ministry of Transport to stop the state's monopoly on the country's railroads.
The country's parliament should approve the relevant draft law which was earlier submitted by the ministry to the parliament so that the private sector of Turkey can begin building and managing railroads. It is expected that the parliament will consider the draft law in the coming days.
Earlier, the Turkish Ministry of Transport, Shipping and Communication reported on its website that 4.4 billion lira will be directed at implementation of railroad projects in the country in 2013.
In 2014, it is planned to direct 7.3 billion lira at railroad projects, while in 2015 - 7.6 billion lira.
The official exchange rate is 1.8060 TRY/USD on March 14.
