Azerbaijani, Pakistani presidents attend business forum

Azerbaijan-Pakistan Business Forum has kicked off in Baku on March 12.

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and his Pakistani counterpart Mamnoon Hussain, who is on an official visit to Baku, attended the forum.

The two countries’ presidents delivered speeches at the forum.

Later on, the Azerbaijani Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Pakistani Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry signed a memorandum of understanding.

The business forum, which is attended by the Azerbaijani and Pakistani officials, as well as the 100 businessmen, engaged in agriculture, industry, construction, healthcare, ICT and other sectors continues with presentations and speeches.

Pakistani president’s visit to Azerbaijan will last till March14. He will meet with a number of high-ranking Azerbaijani officials as part of the Baku visit.

Pakistan was among of the first countries that recognized the independence of Azerbaijan on December 12, 1991. The diplomatic relations between the two countries were established on June 9, 1992. The Pakistan Embassy to Azerbaijan was opened on March 12, 1993.

Azerbaijani Embassy to Pakistan was opened on August 24, 1997.

Pakistan and Azerbaijan enjoy good relations in various spheres. Pakistan supported Azerbaijan during and after the Nagorno-Karabakh War and it is the only country that does not recognize Armenia.
