Georgian authorities believe that Azerbaijan and Armenia will be able to find a common ground and come to an agreement on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili made the remark on August 4 while commenting on the recent situation on the contact line between Azerbaijani and Armenian troops.

He said the Georgian authorities are concerned about this situation. "I want to join calls to de-escalate the situation in the region. This is of great importance for both Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as for the whole region. We all need stability in the region. A dialogue between the two countries must be continued. I am sure that they will find a common language," Margvelashvili said.

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili also voiced hope that Azerbaijan and Armenia will soon reach an agreement and there will be peace in the region.

"We witness the situation in neighboring countries with great attention and concern. I hope and believe that they will soon reach an agreement and there will be peace in the region," Garibashvili said.

The reconnaissance and sabotage groups of Armenia attacked the positions of Azerbaijani armed forces during the recent days.

Over the last five days, Azerbaijani positions have come under attack constantly. At least 13 servicemen have been killed and several others wounded. Despite what is said by Armenian sources, they suffered more losses.

Armenia occupied over 20 percent of Azerbaijan's internationally recognized territory, including Nagorno-Karabakh and seven adjacent regions, after laying territorial claims against its South Caucasus neighbor that had caused a lengthy war in the early 1990s.

Peace talks mediated by Russia, France and the U.S. have produced no results so far.

The UN Security Council has adopted four resolutions on Armenia's withdrawal from the Azerbaijani territory, but they have not been enforced to this day.
