OSCE holds training course for police officers

The OSCE Office in Baku has organized a regional training course for police officers on November 29.
The OSCE Office conducted the training course on the prevention of domestic violence for police officers in close co-operation with the Azerbaijani Interior Ministry.
Topics discussed included the role and duties of police officers in preventing and combating domestic violence under the national legislation.
The event participants got information about the experiences of other countries in this field.
The local experts and representatives from the Interior Ministry also addressed the legal and socio-cultural aspects of implementing the law.
Head of OSCE office in Baku Ambassador Koray said domestic violence cannot be tackled by legal means alone.
Targay said the role of police in the prevention and timely investigation of domestic violence is indispensable.
This event is the fourth in a series of training sessions organized by the Office for district police officers in Baku, Sheki, Lankaran and Guba.
The next training course will be held in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic on December 10-11.
