Azerbaijan, Iran eye bilateral ties

Azerbaijani Consul General in Tabriz Ali Alizade met with Chief executive of the Iranian Julfa and Hadishahr administrative districts, Mukhtar Seifi, during his visit to the area, the Azerbaijani Consulate General in Tabriz told Trend news agency.

During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of further expansion of the bilateral relations, as well as organization of regular meetings in this direction.

They also expressed satisfaction with the operative solution of the emerging problems and systematic work carried out by both sides to further simplify entry and exit through the Julfa border crossing point.

Earlier, Iranian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Mohsen Pak Ayin said that Iran plans to boost close economic relations with Azerbaijan, as four provinces of Iran have common borders with Azerbaijan.

He said that border trade zones and seven border crossing points help to expand bilateral relations.

There are seven border crossings on the Azerbaijani-Iranian border. At present, five of them - Julfa, Shakhtahti, Astara, Bilasuvar and Imishli checkpoints are operating.
